Salesforce credentials are grouped by role: administrator, developer, consultant, architect, marketer and designer. Most start from either the Administrator or the Platform Developer I exam, and higher credentials list those as prerequisites.
Salesforce does not publish numeric exam codes, so the short labels used across the community are conventions rather than official identifiers. Each exam has its own published pass mark, usually somewhere between 62% and 68%.
Credentials are maintained rather than re-sat: Salesforce releases free maintenance modules on Trailhead three times a year, aligned to the Spring, Summer and Winter platform releases. Miss them and the credential lapses, which catches people out more often than the exams do.
